Hummel says it can be difficult for most people to know if an irregular heartbeat is a sign of something more serious. According to Dr. Hummel, those symptoms include fainting, dizziness, chest pain, swelling in your leg or shortness of breath. Hummel advises you make notes of when you experience irregular heartbeats and share this information with your doctor.
Remember, not all unusual heart rhythms will require treatment. The first test is usually an echocardiogram , which looks at the structure and function of your heart. Patients might also be asked to wear a portable monitoring device called a Holter monitor for 24 to 48 hours that records every heartbeat and monitors for irregular heart rhythm. This means the withdrawal from clonazepam will last even longer. In a healthy person with a normal heart, palpitations are almost always benign. One thing I should mention is that in June09 I contracted Lyme disease, but I was able to notice the bullseye rash and get antibiotics within only a few days.
Anyway, after my GP visit, he said it was probably just anxiety and gave me Xanax. If I felt strong anxiety that day I would take a full pill at night. I also started taking Ranitidine Zantac75 for possible GERD, after telling the doc I experience some acid reflux, and thought that was probably the case for my shortness of breath.
Everything was going fine for about a week until I started noticing terrible heart palpitations. They would happen a few times a day at first, but now they are happening at every waking moment. I think they are PVCs after doing some research. They start when I wake up and last all day until I go to bed. This is very distressing and causes a lot of anxiety for me.

I read that ranitidine can cause irregular heartbeats in rare cases, and I havent taken that in 3 or 4 days and I am still feeling the irregular heartbeat all day long.
I also stopped taking the xanax a few days ago as well, and now I only take that every 3 or 4 days when my symptoms get unbearable, instead of taking it every day. I've read that anxiety can cause all of these symptoms, but I have absolutely no reason to be anxious. None of which has decreased the amount of PVCs I experience a day. The doc also perscribed zoloft, which I have yet to try because I dont really like taking an SSRI had me on celexa about 2 years ago and hated it.
I stopped drinking all caffeine when I noticed the breathing problems about a month ago. Before all of this started, I was drinking alcohol about 2 nights a week, smoking marijuana everyday, and drinking caffeine everyday. Never had a problem with any of those substances, until the shortness of breath started, and I stopped smoking weed, drinking, and stopped all caffeine. The symptoms are only getting worse though. Pretty much my main question is: should I be worried?
I cant get to the doc for 9 days like I said but I might try to schedule the appointment sooner if there is a reason to. Answer Question. Read Responses. Related Questions. What causes frequent PVCs during exertion in a normal heart?
